The Canadian government implemented a new electronic immigration system in January 2015, allowing skilled and qualified individuals to enter the country expeditiously. The new Express Entry program will administer applications for permanent residence for foreigners who can fill employment in areas where competent Canadian employees are in short supply.

Express Entry is an application management system that Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) uses to manage and process applications for skilled workers received through three of Canada’s federal economic immigration programs.

Express Entry is a competing immigration system that compares all eligible candidates and then invites the top performers to qualify for Canadian permanent residence status. Candidates are ranked according to their age, education, linguistic competency, and work experience, among other characteristics.

Individuals and families desiring to settle in Canada can apply for Express Entry and become new permanent citizens within a few months.
Express Entry manages applications for three economic immigration programs:

• Federal Skilled Trades Program
• Canadian Experience Class
