The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program is one of three components of Canada’s Express Entry system for processing applications for permanent residence. All Express Entry program are extremely competitive, with candidates being ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Requirements for the FSW Program

To be eligible for FSW, an applicant must achieve the following minimum requirements for years of experience, degree of education, age, and proficiency in either English or French:

  • Experiential Learning
    • At least twelve months of continuous, full-time, competent job experience during the last ten years (or an equal amount in part-time experience). Skilled job experience is defined as work that qualifies as NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B.
  • Attain a minimum of CLB level 7 on an accredited English or French language test.
  • Minimum of a Canadian high school diploma or foreign education equivalent.
  • Sufficient financial resources to sustain oneself and any spouses and/or children settling in Canada.
  • Must intend to reside outside of Quebec.
